I just purchased a 62-69 Sprite grill from another member to put onto my 72 Midget (I hate the black paint on the later Midget grills). It in fairly good shape but needs a little cleanup, is the material just solid aluminum? And is it just brushed or anodized? I only was able to look at it briefly this morning but I couldn't tell, and I want to make sure I know what I'm getting into before I take some 1500 grit wet dry paper or steel wool to it.

I believe it's anodized. They'd quickly corrode and pit otherwise. Anodizing is not easy to sand off, but the coating is not very thick either. I think I'd stick to 0000 steel wool or something like Mother's Polish, esp. along edges.
