What would be a good carb isolation block material that can withstand and not transfer heat? 1/2" thick would be great. Finding it locally at an auto parts or hardware store would be best. We do have an appliance parts store here. I just don't know what to look for.
Thanks,
Mark

On my Weber I used some sort of thick rubber (cm maybe) that came in a sheet roughly 4"x6". It was used between the carb and manifold. Worked well to drop my carb temp but it raised the carb too much and hit the hood.

If you're using the stock SU carbs then you'll need something a bit thicker. Perhaps you can find some make your own gasket stuff that's thick enough?

Mini Spares sells a range of phenolic spacers pre-made for SU carburetors, including handy vacuum ports for balancing twin carbs with (very handy).

Grainger sells blocks of phenolic resin that you can machine into whatever shape you need (that's how I made the thermal insulator spacers for my Ural motorcycle when the Mikuni carb rubber spacers wore out). You can band saw cut the outer shape, and then drill the holes you need. The dust is really messy though, kind of like pencil dust.

Also, if you google on "carbon spacer" you'll find a lot of carbon fiber spacers meant to be used for insulating a variety of carburetors using hose clamps for attachment.

Norm x2 but finding phenolic material and time to machine it in DIY fashion is pretty much outweighed by just buying the correct spacers IMHO. About $25 depending on your set up.

The correct spacer may be a problem as I am installing Minkuni carb. I want the iso block before the adapter. I'll chack if a harley store sell the block.

Pretty sure the bolt pattern is the same as the Solex/Weber/etc. and I KNOW they make isolator blocks and spacers for them. Try googling DCOE spacer.

Thanks, guys. AutoZone let me go thru their boxes in the back room... I found one! Happy camper.
