In reply to # 2123554 by VII I removed the bulky center console and put my stereo in the glovebox. I have speakers in the front kick panels and the rear trunk seperator thing.
The glove box is a good idea and it isn't so obvious to thieves either and we do have a pretty good sized glove box

From the outside you really can't even tell that the Midget has a glovebox because of the way it is tucked under the dash. My passengers never realize it until they bump their knees on it. I feel it is the ideal place to put the stereo but that's just my opinion.

It would make it awkward to change stations but I usualy just let it on one anyway but they just changed my station to a different theme that I don't like and the other one has gone downhill too so I guess my radio project has ended.

Yeah, doing something like this to a midget might just be so conspicuouts that some theif might want to steal stuff

Then again I i just have to be able to listen to music at 80MPH with the top down. . . Oh NM I'll just stick with 1970's ytech just like the rest of the car. I'll never understand you crazies who put those new fangled contraptions in it.

I can think of only two other places worse for iistening to hi fidelity music , under water and outer space. If all you can hear is not wind rush, road , induction noise and a roarty sports exhaust it means your MG should be taking off of you , your pants pulled down and a good spanking delivered.

Who says the music has to be hi fidelity? smiling smiley I wouldn't be surprised if the only reason those are adding extra speakers is just for the extra volume with the top down! I replaced my console's original single speaker with 2 x 4" speakers, but still the stock radio has a hard time pushing them loud enough when the top is down.

There's 2 times when music is great:
1) When the wife wants it
2) At 60+ mph constant speed on the highway. I LOVE the sound of my carbs and Monza exhaust, but constant speed takes all the fun out of the engine sound (plus, at constant 60mph, I need something to take my mind off of the fact that the engine sounds like it's going to explode smiling smiley)

Absolutely agree Mr. Osborn. My Midget has a radio installed by a previous owner, but I've never turned it on. Don't know if it works or not. Don't care if it works or not. When I drive the Midget I listen to the sound of the Ferrari in my head. thumbs up smiley

I enjoy music AND driving. I have an amp on the rear speakers so I can hear just fine at 80mph. I dare you to try and take my MG.

If you add that box'o'speakers you have to add the neon midget ground lights for proper effect.

It sounds like you don't have experience with a competent Midget sound system. I'm also curious as to what you mean by "roarty sports exhaust?" You mean the cheap-o Harley pipe many people run (myself incldued)? The stock exhaust? This is no V8; no need to be irritating with the exhaust noise.

It is possible to have your cake and eat it too. IE: respectable, not terribly irritating exhaust AND tunes loud and clear enough to hear over it cruising at 40mph.

Apparently I'm not the only one able to achieve this.

If you had that speaker box in a Midget, you'd have to strap it to the passenger seat. Then you've got no place to sit your girl.

I believe with that box you'd have to strap it to [both] seats and then you would probably be lucky if the doors would even close but you can always just use some bungee cords to keep them from flapping, but I'd give it a shot. Maby sit on top of it, but of course with the top up 2 holes in roof would be needed and you would need goggles too. On the plus side though with the bass turned up you probably couldn't tell if the wheels are out of balance from the vibrations in your rear. It shouldn't be too uncomfortable for very long though because the alternator would probably burn up and the battery dead in a half hour or so. I'm sure it could be made to work though if a person is willing to just put up with a few small inconviencessmileys with beer
