65 rear springs

Hi all, i have purchased a 65 midget. It has new rear springs, but is so soft that the wheels catch high up in the arches when cornering. When my wife gets in you can see it really drop at the rear. Apart from replacements, any one got any ideas?

I am going to disagree with Stevyn, though it is nice to that you have found MG folks who live nearby you, because the dampers, and the bushes each do different jobs, neither of which are the holding up of the car. That's all down to the springs, as you suspected, Ian.

There were poorly made springs circulating a few years ago, and folks have said that the Moss sourced ones are now good ones. There are also spring specialists who will make proven springs for you. I just searched the MG Enthusiast BBS (UK) for a link to one of them for you, but I can not find the thread where it was discussed (sadly, their website archive has a notoriously poor search capability).

That's what I did on my 75, I added 2 leafs from the old ones to each side. The second from top and second from bottom and it feels good now even with 2 in it but the damn thing is still a smidgeon lower on the left than the right. I don't have the wrap around clamps on it yet and will have to make some but the U bolts are long enough as well as the locating pin to add more leafs.
