I am on uncertain ground here.. and ask for you opinion. I came across a generator for my 1967, 1098cc Midget its a MPA 15017 generator. found on Ebay new/reman. considerable lower price. It say's that it is compatible with my car...does anyone have any experience with this particular brand?
BTW: MPA seems to mean- Motor Car Parts of America.
here is the link:

Thanks.

I really feel that at $30 it´s worth to try!!!!! that is great price!!! I wonder the cost to send such a heavy part to Europe.

As my generator is currently working, I was thinking just to remove it, clean it, and paint it

A few red flags:

1) photo looks like a generator, decription reads like its an alternator.

2) price is low for a "full rebuild".

3) No output is listed. Early MG alternators produced only 34 amps, later ones were rated at 45 amps.

I would look at the various threads on this and the MGB forum for converting your engine to a modern 100amp GM, Saturn or Bosch alternator. That will give you plenty of power to run a modern stereo, fog lights, halogen headlights, etc.

Paco,
Here's a reasonably priced 60 amp alternator available from the UK:

Hello Mike,

actually I really don’t feel I need to upgrade to an alternator. I will rather stick with the dynamo for some time and see who i can live with it. I don’t need H4 lights or other high demanding electronics, so it should be ok for the moment.

Also I would rather invest money in other more important parts of the car or the restoration.
