72 with antifreeze leak

Driving home from work the other day the temp gauge started rising rapidly. Pulled over and found antifreeze leaking out. Put in about 1 quart of water and got home (3 miles) with the temp lower than normal. So this weekend I checked everything out and cleaned off the antifreeze spray under the hood. Didn't see any gross hose or connection leaks so started it up and with in a couple minutes fluid started dripping from the frame. Still couldn't see anything major. I did notice that the fan belt looked like it had fluid on the inside of it. I'm wondering if I could have a seal leak from my water pump. If so it looks like I will have to pull the radiator, fan and pump to get at it. Here's where I need advice. Do you think my diagnosis is correct? How can I be sure without pulling the radiator? Would it be a good idea to replace the pump as well? Anything else like radiator since it is the original '72. As always I appreciate the forums comments on my next steps.

Cooling system tester would be the best bet, you can put the system unde pressure that way and watch for leaks that would be the first step. If you pull the radiator out, get it to a rad shop and have them boil it and test to make sure its not going south. How long has the pump been on the car, the coolant had to come from somewhere.......

H2O pump is original to the 1972 Midget. Sounds like I need a shop to pressurize the system and isolate te leak first then put a plan together.

If it's losing as much coolant as you say, it shouldn't take a shop to find the leak; you can do that yourself. clean the engine up well then let the car run and see if you can find where the leak is coming from with a flashlight and some papertowels. All the places it could be leaking from are pretty easy to see; not like on modern engines where everything is mashed together and you can't see/access 1/2 of the engine easily. The price to pay someone to find the leak could be spent on a new water pump/hoses, put towards a new radiator, etc.

If it is the original water pump I would replace it regardless, asap. You should also give it all new hoses and other inexpensive, easily replaceable parts while you're in there.
