Hi all, getting my '69 midget ready to go, changed the directional/horn/dimmer sometime during the winter, can't remember if I had it started since then. Wouldn't start today, no juice going to starter, jiggled a couple of wires under the dash, and it turned over. Pulled the cowling off the column and heard a sizzle. Now I have 2 brown wires w/ blue strips going into a connector, solid brown wire coming out and going back in? like it loops back into itself. Is this right? Thanks in advance. Chas

take a look at the Bentley wiring diagram 6 (US Midget '68~'69), it shows a brown/blue wire going from your voltage regulator (item 2) to a connector, along with a brown/blue from your lighting switch (item 6), the third wire from that connector is not color coded in the diagram, but it should be brown/blue (as all of the wires on a circuit are always the same color)

apparently, someone has messed with the wiring on your car

The third wire (in your case, a brown wire) from that connector SHOULD go to your ignition key switch (item 38), as this brown/blue circuit is providing the power from the voltage regulator to the circuits which are switched on when the key is turned (the white wire to the coil (item 39), by way of the tachometer (item 95), and another branch of this white wire also powers the second fuse, which fuses the green circuits), and the third branch powers the ignition warning lamp (item 44).

I hope that this helps.
Definitely study the wiring diagram, as it will help understanding.
