1958 MG Magnette ZB "Chick Magnette"
Finally the Chick Magnette has awakened from a 20 month coma. She now has a new 1 3/4 exhaust inclusing a much modified header, alternator, MGB front cover and crank pulley, all new wheel cylinders, master cylinder, new brake hoses, new brake shoes, cleaned fuel tank, new fuel lines. and Pertronix dist. She drove flawless this afternoon though I was not brave enough to venture far from home yet.

I lost 1 lug not while she was in the coma. None of the lug nuts that I have on hand had the right thread pitch. Would it be whitworth?

MG Magnettes... especially varitone ones, love em, have always been one of my bucket list cars. Guessing but Lug nuts should be same as contemporary TF or MGA?

Original nuts are 7/16 - 20 - UNF. Same as MGA if you can get those supplied easier.

They are sweet driving cars. I took mine downtown a couple of times last week, I love driving it around. The 3-main 1800 and front disk brakes make it a joy to drive.

I have a 1958 ZB just like this one. Mine is almost complete now. I have lots of detailing to complete but it will be done soon. My colors are the same as this one.

The Chick Magnettte developed a aggravating mid range bog when I got brave enough to get her out on the road. After some wheeping and gnashing of teeth I discovered that the PO had installed DQ needles in the carbs. When I compared the profile with the "factory" #6 needles it became apparent that the DQ needles were the source of the problem. Runs even better now.

The old girl is in surprising shape for sitting in the desert for 30 years before I got her.

That color combo is popular lately, mine was repainted three years ago. Allen Batchelder's is the same as well. My wife picked it off of some internet ZB pictures.

Very nice photo. Mine is just like this one and it will be completed this fall. It is a total restoration. Thanks for the great photo for inspiration.
