When you say oil pan leaking, you mean the gasket no doubt? Hopefully someone else can comment on how difficult it will be to change and if you can do it without removing the engine. I know the pan is close to the front cross member so I would suspect you would have to undo the mounts and lift the engine some to get enough clearance. There is no oil seal on the rear of the crankshaft. There is a scroll machined into the crankshaft to force the oil back rather than leak past. Oil leaking out is a usually a sign of a worn engine, a lot of main bearing clearance and/or too much blow by causing slight pressure building up in the engine. Make certain it is not oil leaking from elsewhere. How is the oil pressure at idle and at speed?
Good luck , Ed

It Looks Like The Front Crank Seal Is Leaking, Then Throwing The Oil On To The Right Front Motor Mount Then Drips Off Of There. The DPO Blue Siliconed The Pan...Just Looks Crappy Thought I Would Fix Both If I Didnt Have To Take The Engine Out.

JR, I've never done it and although you could probably get the bolts out, it might not drop down enough to clear the oil strainer, which sits way down into the pan. As you can see, the Magnette pan is quite deep compared to the MGB pan and that strainer sits about 1" off the bottom of the pan.

In this pic you can see the oil strainer, this is from a donor engine; you can see it took a right nasty whack through the pan. But, it shows how deep it is. You would have to lift the engine pretty high to get the pan down enough to slide it out.

Front seal is felt with a backer ring. Get a MGB front cover and it will have the neoprene lip-style seal but you may have to put on your own timing marks.

Good to hear its the front seal leaking and not the back of the engine. My Magnette does not have it's engine installed so I can't comment, but maybe someone more knowledgeable can say whether or not you can pull the pulley and cover off the front with the motor in place. Ed

Sure, no problem. Pull the radiator and sit on a stool and do the work.

While you are inside the front cover, I strongly recommend you take a good look at the camchain tensioner. They tend to be pretty worn and are easy to change.

I tried to take the sump off my ZA and eventually gave up and pulled the whole engine and gearbox. However, from memory, I could have replaced the cork seal only with the engine in place. Fiddly but possible if you are willing to cut the seal at an angle and glue the ends together.

BTW, the blue stuff is probably Hylomar, I would use it on the new seal as well.

Just in case anyone does need to drop the sump, it is possible without a great degree of difficulty. You do need to undo the engine mountings and lift the engine slightly - until the clutch slave cylinder touches the body.
There is then enough clearance.
(I had to do this three years ago to solder a porous sump weld.)
