Hi all,

i am working on a 1962 MGA mark II the car was restored by another shop and we are trying to fix a few loose ends.

The rebound straps were new but broken, I have all length straps in stock along with some nylon units. With the car loaded and on the ground not even the late MGB with rubber bumpers straps are long enough. The rear differential does have new rear springs and the part number does come up as correct. 454-840.

I am not understanding why I can't install new ones ? any help would be great

Regards
Mike

Many replacement leaf springs have too much arch. When installed in a normally loaded car they should be flat. see: http://www.mgaguru.com/mgtech/suspensn/rs104.htm

Also, many of the replacement rebound straps are junk. The originals were a rubber coated canvas strap. The eL-Cheapo replacements are just rubber with no canvas embedded. Strapping Lad has heavy duty replacements. They are not exactly like originals but they are stronger. https://sites.google.com/site/strappingladshop/home
