I was going to reply go your post and say that I though more coupes had been imported to the US. In doing so I had to register for the site. After setting up my membership, I was able to see the replies to you post showing that there were more coupes imported. A fellow worker of mine in 1961 had a coupe that was gold in color. We were working for the Navy as machinist apprentices. He was from a very small town Trona in the California desert. I left the area but returned for a visit in the 1990’s and saw him again and he had sold the coupe. I bought a 1962 MGB, which I have found memories of.

I found a red coupe in Coeur d'Alene Idaho 17 years ago, behind an old old trailer house, not for sale said the lady (it's still there in the snow)! I stopped and asked the guy last week if he would sell it, he said his mom (he's 55+) was saving it for him. It's starting to look neglected, but at least I tried.
If anyone wants to see it, or try to buy it, I will be glad to give directions.

" Bob, I have 3 of them, two complete one falling apart."

It couldn't be that rare or valuable 'cause even I have one and I don't have anything of value or worth. I hate getting wrapped up in my possessions so I make sure to sell off anything that might be worth anything, and keep the junk . . .

Unlike American cars, there is no rarity premium attached to a car being produced in a particular year - the British tended to make only detail changes as opposed to the Americans, who felt they had to revamp the appearance every year so people would be getting something new.

There were 1551 LHD coupes sent to North America and another 179 sent to other markets as well as 24 sent out in 'knocked down' form.

Yours is therefor one of a total of 1754 1600 coupes - pretty rare by most standards. The Mk 2 coupes were even rarer - 271 LHD versions.

PS - I'm a big coupe fan myself and have owned three of them, one of each body style.

Bill—

Those look like TR6 wheels on your maroon coupe, do they fit well, no rubbing or tire grinding anywhere?

Nope, Dunlop peg drive wheels used on the deluxe coupes. Only difference is that mine are widened to accommodate modern rubber - 185x70 (pretty much unavailable) or 195x65 - 15.
