You know I was looking forward to this event because in the past they've been too far away for me to go, or other plans have been in the way. But it looks like I need to be a member of NAMGAR to go, is this true?

Christopher,

You absolutely do not have to be a NAMGAR member to come to GT-38 and participate in all activities. The registration form will be on line and in MGA magazine soon. I am in the group organizing the GT and I assure you it will be a great week for everyone. I expect to see you there.

Jim,

That's good. I went to the web site and could not find a way to apply without a NAMGAR membership number. Where do non-members register? NAMGAR website? When the registrarion is ready if you can post a link that would be appreciated, I look forward to it.

Thanks,
Christopher

The show was featuring the MGAMKII and many showed up.
It was for having the newest or youngest MGA at GT37 Mine was is 147 from the last one manufactured. I did not know that until the award was presented.

The Registration form probably won't be on line until November but I will post a note on this forum when it is available.

It seems that the GT's were always designed for the guy who had the summer off or could take a weeks vacation to attend. I always thought they might get a better turnout if it was centered on a weekend. Some people are not able to take that much time off. Not a complaint as I am sure it has been discussed before. Now that I am retired I can find the time to go so not an issue for me anymore.

Yeah, you have to treat it as a vacation which is not always popular with the wife. I wanted to pop down to dayton this past summer but couldn't take the time because of our wedding. Driving down on the weekend for a day would be no big deal but with a car show on wednesday it's jut not feasible. But that area (asheville) is beautiful and we're both looking forward to going down there. I hope there are some rallies and driving events to take advantage of the fun roads.

It's my understanding they were designed that way so that participants would have the weekends for prep and travel. It does sort of discourage the more "casual" attendees from coming, however.

Midweek also makes popular tourist sites more available for a large group. At GT37 we used the Carillon Historical Park for the car show. This might not be available on a weekend.

Gil,

You do NOT have to be a member of NAMGAR to register and participate in all activities of GT-38. If a non member of NAMGAR registers they will pay a little more for registration but will fully participate in ALL other activities including the first timers reception. They can be in the Biltmore tour and picture if the fee is paid. NO RESTRICTIONS. NAMGAR membership NOT required!!
