the previous owner cut away part of the lower bulkhead panel in my MGA. I assume it was done to allow clearance for a V6.

I am going back to a 1500 engine and want to replace the panel.

i can't find one to replace so I think I will need to fab one.

Can someone give me a picture of what the complete panel looks like? I assume the lower portion is flat across from side to side but want to make sure.

Thanks - and if anyone has a panel they would like to get rid of - let me know.

Don't have a picture, but it is not flat all the way across. There is a slight arc cut out in the center that matches the curve on the top of the gearbox tunnel. Cutout is about 9 inches wide and maybe 2.5 inches high. Also, the bottom is bent back and flanged like what you have still there, until it gets to the cutout arc.

I think I have an extra one. But it's at home and I'm at work. If I do have one and you want it I could mail it to you.

I was going to mention I also have a spare. It has a cut on either side where my PO folded it up. (Give him credit for not removing it like yours.) Probably trying to remove engine/tranny without undoing other things that would get in the way. Hey, lets just snip the firewall and fold it up! Did the same to the front wheel wells to remove the shocks.

Bill,
John knows what he is talking about. He cut the roof of his coupe to get the seats in!!

The contour follows the tunnel (if you have it) and has a lip plus the three captive nuts for the tunnel bolts. Had these pics handy from the disassembly a few months back but can take more of the panel now that it is out if you decide to repair.

Here's a picture of the spare I have.

PM sent to OP with more details.

If that panel was cut to fit a different engine how about the transmission tunnel? As stated it would have bolted to the bulkhead panel.

Here are some measurements if that's the route you decide to take. Jeff's plotter paper version will probably be better....

There was one on bay that was cut but came with a patch to replace. It didn't sell for $12.
You might contact the seller and work a deal..
