Interior panel templates

All,
I'm not ready for a full restoration yet, but I'd like to make the interior a little more presentable. My current door panels were made by PPO (previous, previous owner) and are really ugly. Whomever it was, removed the door stiffener bars and made their own panels that have a large opening. The other thing that is missing is the door pockets. Does anyone have CAD drawings or paper templates they'd be willing to share? I'm looking for door panels at a minimum, but the front and rear kick panels and door pockets would be a bonus. My plan is to make panels from Masonite and cover them myself until the full restoration kicks off.

Thanks

Steve

Giovanni,
I've search Barney's site (I always go there first) and unless I missed it ... I've also looked at Clarke Spares.

i am the one that made my own interior for Barney's site...I have a set of foamboard templates I traced from another car's original interior.

I could trace them on paper and send them to you.

They are not good enough for Barney to make into CAD files - but they worked fine.

if you can find a local upholstery supply house you can buy the proper backing for the doors, dirt cheap also.

I used 3mm plywood from a specialty lumber yard that caters to the furniture and boatbuilding trade...very cool.

JP,
I know there was a thread awhile back that talked about using Masonite vs paperboard, etc. I don't remember if there was an advantage to one over the other. I would assume that the paperboard (or proper backing) would be a little more flexible than Masonite. I don't know of any local upholstery supply houses, but there is an upholsterer not to far from the office, maybe they have some I could buy.

you can get really stiff paperboard at framing supply or art supply stores - it's called mat board

Next time I'm up there, I'm bring brown paper and a marker for sure, OK? Gonna make some tracings.

Did you ever hear the story about Brown Paper Pete? He was hung back in the mid eighteen hundreds.

Wore brown paper boots, brown paper pants, brown paper shirt, and a brown paper vest. Carried a brown paper Colt in a brown paper bag.

Made such an annoying sound when he walked around, angered so many towns folks, that they up and hung him . . . for rustling.

I can make CAD drawings from full scale tracings. The drawings will be a accurate as the tracings, so if the tracings work, so would the drawing templates. Once someone actually makes a set of parts from the templates there may be some feedback for minor adjustment of the templates.

OK - I will trace them and then Steve can send them to Barney when he's done.

Found this thread - I have the same problem - I need to make new Door Pockets. You can't buy them. Did the tracings ever happen and were they uploaded?

Any help as to how best to make these would be great. Otherwise I guess I am off to the Art Supply store - purchasing the heaviest mat board I can find, covering it in black vinyl and getting my tape measure out to custom design the pockets.

Thanks in advance,

Brent

The door pockets are included in the Moss Panel kit. You might email them and see if they'll sell the pockets separately.

I brought my kid with me on "Take your child to work" day so I could show him why I drink when I get home.

Brent,
No, I never received the tracings from Jim and honestly, I had forgotten about this thread. I have removed the old panels and am just running around w/o them.

Called Moss - they don't sell them separately. Off to the art materials store I guess.
