I got mine on and off with a paint can opener. Good luck! It's a tough job to do with out scratching the paint.

To dio it without scratching the paint, but a rubber or plastic spreader or spatchuler(SP?). Use the rubber under the screwdriver when you pry the ring off to protect the paint.

I use a spring puller. the puller i use has a T-handle on a shaft with the end formed in a small hook. I slip the hook under the chrome ring and yank.Pops right off.

Chuck, I use a tool that I made that looks like a spring puller as Kirk uses. I wraped it with one layer of tape. I pull from the very bottom of the ring. Also I slide a very thin piece of cardboard between the tool and the paint. No paint damage! Works for me. PJ

Hello there,

Since I twisted a rim with a screwdriver, i no longer use any tool to remove the headlamp rims, I only use my hands !
The only way I know is to press firmly on the top of the rim with one hand, and then pull slowly the bottom of the ring once it can jump over the retaining spring.
You may eventually put a cloth on the bodywork when the paint needs to be protected.

Removing/replacing the headlamp itself from/on its retaining coil spring is by far more painful !
