Brad, I have a rack hanging in my garage. Don't remember where or when I bought it. Having an older B I must have thought
someday I might need it. Don't know how one can tell if it's a quick steering rack or not. Interested? Let me know.

Life and the weather finally cooperated to allow me to test the new steering rack.

It works. I was able to steer the car on roads, even turning corners. devil smiley Car still goes nice and straight, so I didn't screw up the alignment either!

So...yes, nothing too unusual about it. Much as how you never think twice about steering ratios when you hop into a different car, you don't think about it when you change the rack in your car. You steer by response to how the car is behaving...there is no noticing it or thinking going on. For sure, I move the wheel less than before and there is a bit more effort required at low speeds. Out of curiosity, I wondered what the ratio of my Infiniti EX is...2.5 turns. So I suppose the car steers MORE normally now than it did before.

The real test is going to come at this weekend's autocross. That is where I expect to really notice a difference.

For a lot of things, there is a road compromise to gain something on the race track. This is one of those changes that has very little day-to-day downside.
