Can anyone recommend a machine shop that can perform MGB cylinder head work (porting) in New Hampshire or Massachusetts?

Mark,

Beyond porting, what is your plan for your engine?

I've had hardened valve seats and larger valves installed in my 12H-4736. I haven't assembled the head yet. I didn't have it ported because my budget kept me from completing it last year. I have an 18V, had the crank magnafluxed, balanced and polished, 030 over shallow dish pistons, balanced con rods, VP12 cam & new bearings installed. Currently unassembled bottom end. Plan to install a cast iron stock exhaust manifold with dual SUs, have a points 25D set up by Jeff. Do I need dual springs for my head, or are the stock single springs OK?

Mark,

Not exactly up the street from you, but Advanced Engine Rebuilding in Wareham, MA are excellent. They do great work and will work with you to whatever spec you require. The gentleman who owns the shop is named Hans, nice folks. They built my engine for me several years ago.

Give them a call (508) 295-2288.

Dennis

An MG is never 'finished', if there is nothing for you to currently work on it is merely 'resting'.

A friend of mine used to work at R & L Engines in Dover, NH. I have no experience with them, but he had good things to say.

ABT Machine, 1649 Washington St., Holliston MA. 508-429-4355. Recommended by area MG specialists. Rebuilt my head a few years ago (hardened seats, guides, valves, springs) and repaired crack between cylinders 2-3. They also prepare race engines.

Actually, I think I just need the valve seats blended into the bowl.

They can do that with bowl cutter on the valve & guide machine, if that is all you need done.
