Dash switches - down is on? #1

Got an easy question. Most of my dash switches work as down - on. This includes the head lamps, interior lamp, and emergency flashers. My heater fan switch works up is on. I may have assembled the switches wrong or installed them upside down. The icons seem orentated correctly and the wires are connected to terminals as listed on the Advanced Auto wiring diagrams. I want to get this right and it looks like the dash is coming back off due to problems with the speedo and rev counter.

So. Is up - on or is down - on.

Down is ON on my 66 MGB (even Down Under) smiling smiley

. Not sure if it changed for later years or for the US market.

if you install a fuel pump switch, install it opposite of the others. Reason...it you leave the car, turn off fuel pump (it will look "on" winking smiley

and thieves will not get a block away before they run out of gas. Of course, you don;t want to label it.

OK. So if down is on I'm mostly good. How about my heater fan switch? That one may be installed up side down. The icon for that one is the same if inverted. Should it also be down - on? That will be easy enough to turn around.

@Bob: FWIW, on both my cars, 76RD and 70GT, the fan blower switch is "on" when the paddle is down. Same thing for headlamp switch(es).

the word FAN is not upside down when the switch is properly installed. So, unless you are using a non-fan specific "universal purpose" switch that has no label, the green insert goes at the top. Supposed to be a tiny light in there.

Down on was factory correct on my new 1971 MGB's switches. It always seemed strange when the NA standard is down is off and up is on.

My switch is the original for 69 and has a fan icon that is symmetrical so it will be just fine when I turn it around.
