More information needed!!

How does it attach to the car?

Are you able to still use the existing tonneau bar?

What was the cost?

After looking at the pictures and the web site, it seems that it attaches by straps around the headrests. There are a bunch of different options as well, and it looks like the base price for MG's is $119.00.

I am interested in the functionality and would love to see pictures of how exactly it attaches to the head rests.

Mine is made of LEXAN (and there are other options) and attaches via adjustable straps (with snap-together connectors) that go 'round the Headrest riser bar , through 1 of 3 sets of openings cut through the glass, and 'snap' together.

There are additional 'strap covers' to match interiors but as you can see in the pics, other than across the back where they have passed through the glass, they are not terribly obvious (and certainly not from the 'front' at all.)

This is the least expensive option I've seen, and could not reason why I would get a mesh version and pay A LOT more. It stops the breeze from whipping round and hitting you in the back of the head, and quiets the ride-with-top-down dramatically.

The Tonn-bar is in place as you see it, and the roof can be raised without taking the thing off.

As pictured I have the straps going through the 'lowest' openings (holding it up at the highest position.)

It came well packaged, and the lexan was covered in its original sticky-paper protection.

info@windblox.com and tell Tim I said "Hi."

If I had to ask for one improvement, it would be to make the straps such that they have one end free so that you could snug the thing up more easily.

tony

Nice, thank you for the pictures of the straps. Makes all the sense in the world now.

The mesh wind blocker from Raceland is only $89 and mounts via brackets to the convertible top mounts.

I guess I was a bit loosy-goosy on the alternatives -- I realize what I did (unfortunately) in my explanation was mash together the mesh alternatives with the MOSS price (non-mesh)

I did see the Raceland too... and really wanted the Lexan and was not crazy about giving up the interior attachment points to the wind block.

Continuing to play devil's advocate - What interior attachment points do you believe that you give up with the Raceland blocker? The brackets go behind the convertible top brackets and the tonneau bar slots are still available as they are normally.

Edit - The Winblox wouldn't work as well for my use. I want my seat fairly vertical and my wife wants hers reclined. Wouldn't that make the Windblox look crooked?

Wouldn't attachment *behind* the existing brackets stop the top from going up? (Going up without removing said windblock brackets...)

Having the 2 seats in wildly different positions is likely to be a problem with the WindBlox scheme --- convince your wife to "sit up" thumbs up smiley

How far deep does it go -- which is to really ask, can I get to the battery cables from the driver's seat if need be?

Brian, I don't think it would restrict battery cable access -- if you look carefully at the 3rd image in the first set at the top, you'll see the rubber on the bottom of the Lexan between the seats about 6 or so inches above the passenger-seat's chrome adjustment handle.

The bottom of the Lexan is straight as that rubber would indicate.

How much "wiggle" is there in this type attachment?

It seems that with just the straps, you could grab the top edge and move it back and forth with ease

Hmmm, wiggle is so subjective winking smiley

The tighter the straps the less wiggle, for sure, but as I said previously, it would be a bit bettererer if the straps had one loose end to 'pull on' to cinch it up real tight. But you can get them fairly tight.

That being said though, they are *not* bolted to anything and there may always be some 'wiggle' not matter what.

tony

Clever idea to attach it to the headrest mount and really low price too.

I am actually in process of doing a wind blocker myself. I made a pattern in wood last week and will cut an lexan sheet this week. My goal is to have no frame around it to look as "clean" as possible. i also like to make it as a "third window" with the same radius on each side, same thickness, same edge finish.
I've seen a few samples of stuff like this but I did not like the attachment bracket (mounted too high, rough welded corners, angular corners).
My idea is to make mine low enough to receive a rail at the bottom connected to the each side of the body using the 3 screws (roof mounting). I also need room for seat belts.
Ideally it could be mounted with roof installed or not and could fit the trunk (not necessary though).

I will publish pictures when I'm done

I don't think it would take much effort to cut out a slice on the edge to allow the seat belt strap to pass through, and over the seat... an artist's conception below cool smiley
