77 MGB Grounding Strap Correct Placement

What is the correct placement for 77 MGB grounding strap. Can I relocate the grounding strap?

The correct placement is around the passenger side (LHD) rear transmission mount.

You can relocate this or add extras is you like. The early cars used the engine mount.

My '77 has it in the engine compartment driver side (LHD) around the engine mount.

A friend with his '77 kept going through accelerator cables. The cable would bind and then fray. I noticed that his ground strap was missing in the engine compartment and there wasn't any by the transmission location. He had a ground strap installed and the accelerator cable binding went away. It seems that the accelerator cable would act as ground, overheat and eventually fail. He hasn't had the problem since.

this is where mine is located - from the block, just behind the alternator, to the radiator holder. i have since removed the original 40 y/o oil covered one on the engine mount and run with just this one. seems to work just fine...
