...before I waste more $, might anyone remember if these male buckle holders mount to the B pillar, or where? The Ebay seller is a Triumph nut and knows these things were OEM on B's GHN and GHD 5UC 273879 onwards (mine's 277694). He's not sure of the location. Any help appreciated - I have till 9 PM EDT tomorrow (Wed)

This is a VERY friendly and communicative Ebay seller, Dave Bingham - had his yellow '74 TR6 since new thumbs up He sells NOS Leyland and Lucas bits (pricey but they are NOS)- here's his store:

I don't remember ever seeing those before. They just hold the seatbelt in place when it's not in use?

Hi Leif - apparently so; I hang the belts on the 2 forward trim screws of the rear cap rails now (loosened the screws and stuck rubber caps on), but they fall off alot and I cant be spending $80 on something useless, so I'm hoping someone will remember.

Marco,

they were used for the 1973 on models beginning in the second half of 1972. They are screwed to the side panel behind the door opening (B-post) a few inches underneath the side header rail and the 'mal' lock part of the seat belt lock should be stored there, if out of use.
I had them on two of my B's but rarely used them.
If you want to install them, have a look on a 73 or 74 B for the exact position and put some strong double sided adhesive tape on the back before you fix them to your car, as the eyelets for the screws tend to break away easily when you bolt them in to place. With the double sided mounting tape, you don't need to put much torque on the screws and will not damage this items.

Hi Marco,
This was my answer when both mine were broken. Leftover piece of pvc plastic stock, and some type of marine fitting from either Lowes or Home Depot. Made one for each side, cost only a couple of bucks. The belt tang just hangs on the fitting. They are screwed in exactly where the black plastic originals were attached, so that's where your very rare parts would go.
Hope this helps.
Harry

Thank you Harry - The orig. mount points look so low, can you reach back there to grab the belt once seated? I'm convinced now to save the $80 and refine what I came up with.

Hi Marco:

Here is what the bracket looks like. Wondering if someone might do me a favor and take a picture of how the Kangol retractables are mounted on the wheel wells. The seatbelts weren't installed when I got the car and I am just getting to the point of installing them and can't find a picture to see how the GT belts mount.

They were on my 74 convertible and I found them completely useless. Unless you are building a show car and need concours points I would not bother with them.

i have mine in a box somewhere, i know for sure one of them is broken where the screws go through. i checked for a pair on a B i found at the junk yard but they were in worse shape than mine. when i put in the new panels i didn't bother putting them back on. i certainly wouldn't pay $80 for new ones though...

i also think they were more for to the older style belts. they didn't seem to be much good on the retractable belts i have in the car. i do have the holders on the side of the headrest now which makes things really convenient. but before getting them i do remember trying them out and thinking this doesn't make much sense...

Here ya go John! Also a pic of my hanger-upper solution ... it works, I'll just bend the screws upward a bit so the buckles dont fall off thumbs up. Nice Ebay seller or no, $80 is absurd. I removed those huge early 70's headrests (made the cabin claustrophobic to me), so I cant use those nifty seat belt guides.

Thanks. Makes sense now. I had two extra plates with the seat belt pieces, assumed they were used on the mounting pieces, obvious from your picture they don't belong.

Marco, the shoulder part of the belt actually is taut between the hanger and the reel. On my car,the part of the belt that goes over the lap extends next to the seat toward the front, and I can grab it easily and pull the tang off the fitting.
