Hi MIke,

From your description I'm not sure if you're having a problem with the push button mechanism or door alignment, or both. The push button mechanism might need lubing and/or adjustment. There's a machine screw on the mechanism that can be moved in or out as needed, but you'll have to dig into the door to get at it. On the other hand, the higher effort needed to operate the push button could be related to the door alighment. How do the gaps look? If they're uneven, I'd adjust the door alighment first, then circle back to the push button/latch adjustments.
