Allright, I’m getting quite discouraged here.

I've got ignition problems.

I’ve checked the dizzy out, over and over. I am convinced it’s a 45D.

Serial number puts it at a 25D – Haynes and Bentley.

I bought a new cap for a 45D but it doesn’t fit.

I bought a new condenser for a 45D but the wire is too short to reach the coil. (I also have new points for a 45D).

I bought a new rotor for a 45D but clearly it’s the wrong size.

I have points, condenser and rotor for a 25D. They don’t fit.

I’ve looked at about a bazillion pics (Haynes, Bentley, John Twist’s video) and there’s no way I’ve got a 25D. All the pics point to a 45D.

What the heck do I have? I found the stamp on the dizzy. It says it's a 25D but nothing I've seen in any pics is the same.

Here's a pic. Am I totally out to lunch? Is this a 25D?

Body and rotor look 25d to me. 45d rotor is much smaller and 45d does not have the advance index on the side. Points don't look right to me but I cant see the side where you use a screwdriver to move them.

Edit: spelling

I would say you answered your own question. Serial numbers don't lie.

If I'm seeing the pic right, it says 25D on it.... What is the number on the body?

That is a 25D in the photo.

The points set you have is a POS.

Can't tell much about the capacitor as the rotor arm is in the way.

The side terminal is a cobbled up mess.

Goodness only knows what the mechanical advance system is like.

Is it the photo or is the vac unit really not there?

The whole thing looks like a disaster to me.

If anyone can bring this thing back to life Jeff can, but don't expect to pay for just a plain old rehab.

Jack

Yep, send it to Jeff (Advanced Distributors). You're not going to be able to get it right in that condition. Check his web site for turnaround time because you may want/need to buy something to be your temporary and your backup in case he's in the 30-day time frame at this point. Then again, he may have one on the shelf ready to go.

Thanx guys. Twig, the vacuum advance is there - it's just the photo.

As near as I can figure, I've got a 25D body and some components from a 45D and who knows what else.

Jeff? Helloooo? Can you help?

It looks exactly like a 25D... even says so on the label. Twigworker summed it up nicely. It's a victim of some serious cobbling.

Yep its a 25D with the vacuum unit broken off. The points and condenser are really bad ones from a 45D. The rotor is 25D - original. Looks like you need some help!!!

Other than needing a vacuum advance, it looks good and rebuildable.
