I'm driving down to the Classic Le Mans on Thursday 5th July catching the Euro Tunnel around midday. I live in Fleet, Hampshire. Then stopping at hotel near Rouen on Thursday night. Just wandered if any other B owners are doing the same?

I am planning to go but I have not fixed my travel arrangements yet. We tend to use Portsmouth-Caen night ferry when we go to Amgouleme. As Lemans is not as far south I might go for the tunnel to get more of a drive in France. The drive to the tunnel on this side is a bit of a pain though, round the M25.

Have you been to Le Mans Classic before? What are the camping arrangements like?

Hi David,

Yes went two years ago. Stayed on one of the campsites near the track. They have good atmosphere and loads great cars to see. Only downside is you have to queue for the showers. This year I'm staying at the Maison Blanche site which I booked on www.1st-tickets.co.uk they arrange the crossing as well.

Let me know what you decide to do.

John, are you air freighting the car or sending it by sea? Where is it coming into?

wow thats impressive! I thought mine was a long journey, but nothing compared to yours. If you've not been before its a fantastic weekend. The cars that are racing are amazing, they split them by age and the cars driven there are equally draw dropping. The best place to see the cars that are racing is behind the pits, they line up before each race waiting to go on the track.

Thanks Ian, i was there 2 years ago too and have an amazing time v v hot though...

I will be going down in my 67 GT and my father in his 65 roadster (hopefully with its new suspension from Dave Headley of FAB TEK fame in the US fitted)

I'll give you a call closer to the time

If you camp at one of the campsites at the track for Lemans Classic are you able to remain on the campsite on the Sunday night?

Given that the racing does not stop till 4pm I may want to stay Sunday night before heading to the ferry/tunnel on Monday morning.

Thanks Tom.

I see that you can pay extra for a paddock pass. Does anyone have a view as to whether it is work it? My son will be expecting me to pay ofr him so everything is double!

You have to get the pass, walking around the paddocks probably the best bit!

I thought that might be the case. Better find a straw boater then.

Yes you can stay Sunday night. Agree the paddock is one of best bits, getting up close to the cars. Also you get access to the cars as they line up before going on track.... so well worth the money!

Hi Stuart, tried boling them and also heating the bar, but had to resort to brute force and a big hammer and ended ruining the bush which I now cant get out. So I ended up buyng a new anti roll bar with the bushes already fitted! Lesson learned is not to lose your temper in these situations smiling smiley Should have it back on the road this weekend and will be going down to Goodwood for the breakfast..
