GT arrived from England...delivered today

The GT was delivered today. Dusty....one wheel trim ring dented....and a non-functioning rev counter are the only apparent casualties.

A quick wash, tyre and oil check and I blasted into Airway Heights to fill with some fresh hi test petrol.

It was a bit surreal...driving a UK spec car on the wide US roads (on the "wrong" side), but nonetheless an absolutely brilliant experience. I was intimately familiar with the car and found myself re-discovering it in a short drive in the Pacific Northwest.

On a related topic...One of our esteemed members, Brad Pace, lives near me. His generosity, knowledge and hospitality knows no bounds. A special thanks to him.

Thanks for the kind words, Matt, I can't wait for you to take me for a ride. For those members not familiar with this area the buildings behind Matt's GT is the Fairchild AFB Hospital. The road to Matt's place used to be the base west entrance but has been closed for many years. He has a great place with a most wonderfully spacious shop. Is your trim ring chrome or SS? I may have a spare one someplace on a shelf?

Looks good Matt! Love the colour. With these old British cars flipping back and forth between the USA, England, Europe and the rest of the world they need to set up a passport system much like they do with dogs now. cool smiley

What a great looking car. Congratulation! I just finished restoring my 79 Midget and it is a blast to drive.
I have a question for you,how and who did you ship it with? I want to ship a Mini from the UK. I don't know where to start, I am in going to be in the UK in November attending our nephews wedding and wanted to look for an older good looking Mini to ship back to Canada.
Thanks

Matt,

Nice car. Ignore those "wrong side" folks; they're just jealous. Speaking of jealous, I'm desparately hoping that your avatar involves a close personal friend and is not photoshopped.......

Nice car! Beautiful color and best of all it has sunroof...great, man!!!

BTW, is this a 74 year model, right? I think so because of the different rear view mirrors. Mine is a 73 year and the mirrors are different than yours.

Please, post up more pictures of the engine bay and the interior....lovely car!

enjoy that 'lil beauty! great fun driving a rhd car here in the states. back in'67 my wife & i went to england and scotland , one purpose was to look for a p series mg. found only one, and it wasn't right. in edinburgh, tho, i found a 36 ta. after a pint or 2 of the owners home brew beer i bought the car.it wasnt right either but the price was.

here's the part thats probably a bit different different from your deal, i'll bet....... the car cost $200 as did the shipping which the po arranged. the car came into port elizabeth, nj, and i drove her home to stratford ct....about 100 miles. what a drive! i hope you end up with as many great memories, smiles & stories as i did.......
