Hi, does any one know if or where you can get the asphalt base sound deadening for the doors on 69 MGB

Thanks
Brian

Go to Lowes or HD, roofing dept, walk the aisle and look for it. Small roll, about 6" wide, foil-backed, self-adhesive. Used to seal roof vents and such. The folks at Lowes don't really get our use for it so I wouldn't call it sound-deadening, just say, the small roll of asphalt/foil stuff you use to seal roof vents/pipes, etc.

Not sure about the OEM product, but if you are not doing a 100% restoration, products like Dynamat and others do a good, if not better job. Also, rubberized spray undercoating is a good option as it helps prevent rust and deadens sound.

Just used a combination of undercoat spray an Dynamat inside the doors on my car and the difference is very noticeable.

Put this term into Google: "auto body sound deadener"

Several "well-known" sources come up.

The building material alternative may work; but, if you want your MGB to be as quiet as a more modern car, buy the real stuff.

You don't need to cover the entire door skin. You need a wide strip down the center. All you are trying to do is "ruin" the door skin's capability to sound like a drum head.
