Sure. He was originally going to build it for the GRM $2000 challenge but I think he abandoned that idea. I believe it had a GM V6. Who has it now?

Got a couple people thinking hard about it already, it's neat car/project, and it's cheap, the magic ingredients to get people interested smiling smiley

I think Jack was wondering who had the V6 drivetrain.

As soon as I saw it, I thought GRM challenge. Then my memory kicked in and seemed to recall that was the purpose of this car in the first place.

Who built the cage?

This was in 2004 when Tony & Jerri came to Seward. His car is the reddish orange, mine is the purple. He stopped by the house to look at my '69 C project. He was a fast friend, gone too soon.

Yes, I was wondering where the V6 and 5 speed ended up.

Hap. I'll take it. Was starting to collect MGB bits for a vintage race car project with my son anyway. Call me at (386) 299-4279

The plan was to do the GRM challenge then set up for vintage racing. After missing the GRM challenge a couple of times he decided to focus his attention on vintage racing and pulled the v6 Chevy. I'm not sure where it ended up. I don't remember seeing it at the auction.

Bill it intially ended up with me, it was sold to me by the family before the auction happen, then after having it for a couple of years and then ending up with a completed MGB vintage roadster race car, I ended selling it to Tim Suddard, who posted above, and he will completing as vintage race car with his son, or so the story goes.

Hap, I knew what happened to car. My comments were meant as a reply to Jack Long's comment "Yes, I was wondering where the V6 and 5 speed ended up."

Now that I don't know, we pretty much just got the rolling car, and one core engine and 4 syncro tranny. I found the 4cyl engine mount bracket he had cust off the car a dn they were laid in the seat of the car.

There were a few weird things about the car, the roll cage for example, I wondered if Tony had bought a kit, or someone made it from scratch for him, the two front down tube didn't follow the a pillar as most tin top roll cages do, while not the preferred way to do it, but it was a deal you could live with, the floorboards were replaced, but pop riveted in with 1/8 aluminum rivets, I suggest Tim do some seam welding here to be sure. This is good start to someone building a budget MGB GT vintage race car, and thats pretty much what Tim thought they would do with the car, he even mentioned not painting the car, which would be cool, as it would still have Tony's orginal paint scheme. If anyone can get this car on the track, it will be Tim, I was thrilled to see he was the one that ended up with it.

I wasn't involved in the floor pan replacement. As I remember they were pretty rusty, we were trying to compete in 2005 GRM challenge so replacement wasn't an option. I did fabricate some steel panels to cover the foot wells. I can't remember where the cage came from but I remember Tony telling about it. He had such a passion about his cars you couldn't help but get excited with him. I 'm glad Tim got it too. And hope to see it race someday.
