Spring Break and Car Shopping

Rex and I went shopping today. My car came home on the trailer, his will wait till next weekend. He bought a butterscotch 1975 with a new top in the box, 73k miles, new exhaust on the ground under the car, and wire wheels. No rust, no dents, seemingly all original paint, very nice OE interior, and no dash cracks. I bought a 79 overdrive car that is vermillion, 103k miles with a rebuilt engine, new tires on fake wire wheels (but these look much better than most fakes), runs, no rust, one dent in the bull nose of the hood, what appears to be OE WHITE carpet(???), a chrome header, Pearce manifold with what the PO thinks is an Offenhauser carb sitting on it, it comes with a complete set of Rostyles and new clutch hydraulics in boxes, and it is out of clutch fluid even though the master is a new TRW. It needs a battery, top, and frame. We are thinking that the slave probably leaked the fluid out.
Guess which car is now going on Gary's Run? I really wanted to take the 70, and it does now have a new top and more, but......

Here are the requested pics of my car (Dan, are you out there??). Today I was getting a haircut and the barber asked me if I wanted to buy her MGB, a 71. Then, while grocery shopping, a friend walks up and asks if I want to buy his MGB. Both people are wanting to sell because of discomfort getting in and out. I suggested that they come try this r/b car on for size.

Hate those sissy bras. And they make the paint fade at different rates, so you can never take them off.

I'll have to check for the hose! Today the front end got lubed and inspected. The brake pads are new, but the hoses are cracked and showing the second layer. The right side wishbones are worn more than I've ever seen before because someone didn't have the nut tight when they cotter pinned it. Those get replaced. It does have a new alternator and fuel pump. I'll replace the clutch slave tomorrow. It had fluid in it, but since fluid leaked out of the system and there wasn't evidence in the cab, it seems prudent to do so.

77 MGB - Four tone paint - some kind of electronic ignition - hood props - cheap tires - new springs all around - mixture of poly and rubber bushings - original exhaust - fuzzy seatcovers - stereo out of old F150 pickup - virtually no rust - right front wrecked and semi well repaired - just about right for me!

78 MGB - Done right by a good PO, and I only bought it. Tell Jim how nice it is. But I did put in a Datsun 5 speed.

79/65 MGB - Tubby - Carmine Red - V-6 - T-5
Going to do this one more right, less rat rod!

No kidding! Yesterday when Rex showed up, I told her "Well, I'm off to buy cars". She replied "Have a good time".
