80B - Engine overhauled 1/11, SU HS4's, O/D, all Speedhut gauges, cruise control, front & rear suspensions rebuilt, tube shocks on rear, Moss lowering kit, Bell SS Exhaust, Ed's 110 amp alternator, Schlemmerized distributor with Pertronix, LED tail lights, halogen headlights, Limey's fuse box & relays, etc., etc.

come on Bob,everyone knows that CB cars handle better,RB cars are too high.

You failed to read the part "properly done"

And Lloyd's idea of properly done is much different than the average.....toss a set of lowering springs and leaf spacers in. winking smiley

I can only speak from personal experience, having owned a 73BGT and now an 80 Roadster. Once I lowered the 80B, addressed the bumpstops and changed to SU HS4's with iron downpipe manifold I believe it drives as well or even better than the 73BGT. You can tell the difference with the swaybars front and rear.

Don't knock it if you haven't tried it.

Edit: I would love to be able to do the bumper mods that Lloyd did recently to lighten the bumpers, but sadly I don't have the skill or equipment.

I've owned my '67B for 40 years and it has never let me down. Not even a dead battery. The original owner got it as a Christmas gift in '67 and faithfully took it to the local BMC dealership for its regular maintenance. Admittedly, it wasn't the first B that I looked at. Over a nine month period, I must have checked out close to a hundred cars, everyone of which was thoroughly thrashed. The interiors looked as if they had been attacked with a switchblade and all the front suspensions had never been lubricated. My car still has almost all of the original front suspension components. The only things that I have replaced are the inner A arm bushings, outer tie rod ends and rack boots. There is absolutely no freeplay in the steering rack or the kingpins and the car still has the original leather interior. If these cars had been properly maintained from new, we wouldn't be having the problems that are so common on this board today. RAY

Owning a car whether new or old is purely a matter of taste. As I get older I kinda get nostalgic for the 60's muscle cars.
