Installed relays for the headlights and the cooling fan. Both work MUCH better now. Next project will be installing drilled and slotted rotors, new calipers and steel brake lines. the never ending battle continues.

Had an annoying leak at the right rear tire. Took it to Dsicount Tire to get it looked at, found out that my tires were from 2004 and the spare from 1980!

Came home with 5 new tires on the rims.

Took the B to Shelsley Walsh hill climb on Saturday. My first time at that venue and the earth banks look very solid when you need to drive home afterwards.

I was allocated a good number, 50. Shame I didn't set a good time. The target for a standard B is 42.2 seconds and I did it in 47 and a bit.

The next round of the MGCC Luffield Speed Championship is a sprint on 5 August at Curborough. I should get closer to the target there.

Got unbelievably frustrated! Pulled out the seats removed the old carpet (I think it was 43 years old!) Laid the sill and battery box then found the transmission tunnel carpet was for a model with a hump. And the floor carpets are for a LHD! It is the weekend and I cannot get hold of the supplier until Tuesday in OZ because of the time difference. Checked the part numbers and it should have been correct. Oh well it proves O'Tooles Law! Murphy WAS an optimist! The Red carpet does look good.

There has been a lot of discussion in recent years about old tires and how long is too long to keep them on the car. 2004 isn't all that bad if the mileage on the tires isn't excessive, but 1980 is way overdue to be replaced. I think 10 years is about the recommended replacement time. It also depends if you have Rostyles and are running tubeless or wires and running tubes. My Pirelli tires are from 1998 with only about 20,000,miles on them and free from dry rot but I replaced the tubes in the tires in 2010. I am going to get the tires replaced soon.

Miles are not the greatest concern, they affect wear.Hopefully most MG owners know when the thread depth is beyond hope.
8 years on a non daily driver seeing plenty of storage in the off months, consider yourself well served and she deserved the new shoesthumbs up
1998? I wouldn't be driving them on the highway, new tubes or not wise decision on getting to the tire shopthumbs up

Yup - I didn't put up any kind of an argument. The tires were showing some of that pattern hairline cracking that they begin to show on the sidewalls. It was nothing to worry about, but I had made note.

I'm running Rostyles tubless and figured that the slow leak was not going to be solved without a tire change - I was debating with myself what to do when that decision came - replace just the rear two or go all around. There was a lot of tread on the tires still. Once there I decided that I would less likely regret replacing all of them than deferring part of the expense.

All I did was polish my car today. I just wanted to post in what seems to have become the longest thread I've ever seen on MGE. 72 pages, wow!

Well yesterday, a friend helped me and we removed the motor mounts only to discover that the 'frame shop' had installed them backwards, which pulled the engine too far forward to where the headers were hitting the frame and made it look like there was far more wrong since the crash.
I t also broke the new mounts/rubber..

Whew!
What a relief, not as bad as I thought...

Next project, pull the rear springs to find out why it sits 1-1/2" lower on the left rear than the right.
Since the crash...............

Might be a good time to do the modification......

Drove it over to the weekly Monday Night Car Show at the local mall where I helped to raise the value of every other car around me. LOL. Great turn out, but no LBC's besides mine (my neighbor with the electric converted Midget drove his Leaf instead). The only other British cars were a vintage Roll's (50's I think) and a late 70's Roll's sedan. Lots of muscle cars, a nice unrestored (or older resto) '54 Hudson Hornet. A kid driving a pristine gen 1 Civic CVCC 5-speed (I had a non-CVCC 4-speed in the late 80's).

Changed oil, pulled out body glove recliner chair with built in umbrella, sitting in the shade enjoying the afternoon sun.
With Mikes hard cherry lemonade and a sub sandwich.Listening to the Doors on the new stereo install in the Bedouin 1971 MGB roadster.
Can life get any more relaxed? Standing still that is.
In motion is another story completely.thumbs up

Ordered some parts: rear brake cylinder rebuild kits, a seal for the pedal box cover so I can pull and repaint it, a new cap for the brake MC to replace the old one with its almost non-existant seal, a new set of pads for the brake and clutch pedals, and a new parking brake cable so I can have a functioning e-brake.

Replaced the tires and inner tubes. Went with a p185/65R14 they are about an inch wider than the old ones and will lower the old girl about another half inch. Can't wait to get her off the jack Stands only about 8 weeks of driving left in this part of the world

It's not the snow it's the 30 degrees below and a MG heater !! that keep us off the roads up here

Do the heater fan relay mod and eliminate the heater valve with the plumbing parts fitment. Flows 50% more hot water and the fan really blows enough to keep you warm. Insulated hardtop also help with good rubber seals.thumbs up
