Sprayed 3 coats of base and six coats of clear. Color sand and buff tomorrow. The car looks like it was dipped in baby oil happy so far with my garage pain job. The only small thing was I had to go with BRG from a 1964 jaguar! paint shop said he couldn't mix the MG color? It looks about 3 shades darker but still nice

I just replaced the front wheel bearings. I'm in the process of converting to a 3.4L V6, so with the engine out I decided to replace those. John Twist video was helpful, as always. :-) Next event will probably be the fuel line and pump.

Riff Raff,

I envy you doing Gettysburg in MGs - awesome. We did Gettysburg in 2010 in a Chrysler 300 with Virginian plates, got some very wierd comments until some one was up front enough to ask us why we were in touring the battlefield give we were from the south. The penny dropped then because we are from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia - non combatants!

What a great place!

Got the exhaust system re-installed after my ill-fated tangle with some tall railroad tracks.

And on a slightly related note bought a large collection of LBC dealer brochures. T-Series, A, B, Lotus, Jag, Triumph, Jaeger and more I haven't gone through yet.

I live in the country and I got tired of picking hay and bugs out of my radiator so I made a removeable bug screen from some bits I had laying around. It is held on by the two nuts that hold the core support braces. I can slide the screen out to clean or remove the whole thing by removing the two nuts. The sides are 1/2 x3/4" aluminum angle rivited to some metal strap. The screen is leftover bits from a window screen kit and small bunge cord for tension.cool smiley

Haven't posted for a while so a little more than what happened today. More like the past week. Pulled Intake, exhaust and carburetor. Did a little touch up painting of the engine bay.

Rebuilt the 45 DCOE.

Took the radiator and fuel tank over to be cleaned out. Unfortunately the radiator core was shot. So they rebuilt it for me at about the same as a new one but with better stock. The guy who did it has been in business for 40 some years and said he has redone many MG Radiators this way and they work better than stock.

After getting the fuel tank and radiator back, put back in the intake and exahaust manifolds and carb.

Put the gas tank in put gas in it and much to my disappointment there was a pin hole in the bottom of the tank.angry smiley So I screwed a zip screw with a washer in there for temporary. Went to start the car for the first time since I bought it and the damn fuel pump wasn't running. So, took it out and cleaned the points. Still wouldn't run (Take pictures of the wiring). Thanks to Dave D. I got the wiring in correctly. However, the pump still would not work. The weird part was the coil would fire just great when not attached to the pump housing, but as soon as you attached it no good. So, I decided that perhaps the diaphragm was too tight some how or another and put a screw driver under the points putting tension on the diaphragm and reassembled it. The pump ran very slowly connected directly to a battery, so I put it in hoping it would work. After putting it in. No good. Charged up the battery and tried again. It started pumping slowly, faster faster, and faster. Apparently being dry for so long in the AZ Climate made the diapragm stiff to the point that it would not allow the plunger to move up to open the points on the pump. Once it was moisturized with fuel it began working fine. The car fired and ran for the first time since I have owned it and ran quite well I might add. With regard to the fuel tank, I took it back out today and took it back the radiator shop. They were appologetic and are going to fix the probelm at no additional cost and paint it. Hope to have it on the road for the first time soon.

Following installation of the green(LED) panel lights. And awaiting arrival of the new carpet I replaced the MG badge on the trunk lid and the MG badge on the grill. Disapointed that they are plastic but the original trunk badge was too badly damaged to restore.

Then adjusted the door opening control. Never taken a door card off before it was interesting but simple. Now "she who must be obeyed"can open the passengers side door with a measure of ease!

Carpets and three point seatbelts arrived. Seatbelts will be okay. I think I am going to have an interesting time with the carpets.

Wish me luck and patience.

Regards

Cut, ground, sanded, wire brushed and painted. Leaf springs need flip side painted, need to weld a new rebound strap bolt to axle. have other spring pieces soaking in rust dissolver. Got another box of hardware and some stainless brake hoses. Oil cooler and brake overhaul kit and shoes.
So far I have installed re-corded radiator, and cooling components removed factory fans (one of the brackets was broken and ate the fan up.) installed a Hayden 14" as a puller. K& N air filter, New seat belts. Grinding, priming and painting every rust spot under the car.
I really want to have the wheels sand blasted and powder coated. But I have done more than I set out to do. But I know me, if your doing this take care of that and if you do that then why not just take care of this while your under here. But it will be ready to drive in a couple weeks.

Well, this event is held at the local "Outlet Shopping Center"....so I guess technically we invaded that more than Gettysburg...
I drove 90 minutes in 95 degree heat and arrived at 12:30 (father had health issues, had to stay close to him in the AM) and the event ended at 1 Pm. But, it was nice to spend 45 minutes or so with my Frederick friends.

Congratulations and welcome to the most elite group of Masochists in the world. Just be careful your "G" will steal your heart, take all of your money, demand more time than you have and you will love it more and more and more. Don't understand it but when the G bug gets you it doesn't let you go!

Well done, some pics would be great!
