So I screwed a zip screw with a washer in there for temporary. Went to start the car for the first time since I bought it and the damn fuel pump wasn't running. So, took it out and cleaned the points. Still wouldn't run (Take pictures of the wiring). Thanks to Dave D. I got the wiring in correctly. However, the pump still would not work. The weird part was the coil would fire just great when not attached to the pump housing, but as soon as you attached it no good. So, I decided that perhaps the diaphragm was too tight some how or another and put a screw driver under the points putting tension on the diaphragm and reassembled it. The pump ran very slowly connected directly to a battery, so I put it in hoping it would work. After putting it in. No good. Charged up the battery and tried again. It started pumping slowly, faster faster, and faster. Apparently being dry for so long in the AZ Climate made the diapragm stiff to the point that it would not allow the plunger to move up to open the points on the pump. Once it was moisturized with fuel it began working fine. The car fired and ran for the first time since I have owned it and ran quite well I might add. With regard to the fuel tank, I took it back out today and took it back the radiator shop. They were appologetic and are going to fix the probelm at no additional cost and paint it. Hope to have it on the road for the first time soon.|
