Trying to save PLT's original jack bag today; DPO let it turn into a sad rusty mess angry smiley

Bit tricky without getting the inside wet - scrubbing the rust with CLR worked sort of ok. The buckles are history sad smiley I'll use a bungee cord to keep it rolled.

I know there's replacements but you're only original once

Changed the upper radiator hose and thermostat. One thermostat housing stud snapped off thankfully at nut and not the head. Little heat on the head and some vise grips turned the stud out without much issue at all. Replaced all the studs just to be on the safe side for next time and also added lock washers to the hardware assembly.

Got headlights working again. So I guess laying upside down playing with wires under the dash of a small British car is my way of relaxing after work.

Broke my damn turn signal switch by fumbling with an emergency horn blow. Now the high beams flop down to the on position. very irritating. I will be ordering a new one tomorrow. Found a new one on eBay for $65.00 with free shipping.

Wasn't today, but I've been dealing with family emergencies the last few days.
Last Saturday, 4 gents from the club came over and we did some compression testing and then took Dorothy's head off.
Great times!
More detail here: http://www.mgexperience.net/journal/mulpha/7257

Today I worked on my maintenance XLS. It's setup for Canucks that garage their cars over the winter - I'll share when I've sorted a few more tasks out.

Solved an odd problem with my headlights: When I selected High Beam, the dash illumination for the speedo went out, and when I selected Low again, the illumination came back, but High beam stayed on.
This was obviously connected with the relays I have fitted, but that was 6 months ago. It turned out to be a bad earth of the speedo itself, sorted now.

Filled up the fuel tank on my way to work this morning, then spit and sputtered to the next exit as if it were out of gas. So my to do list just grew this weekend...
