What years did the GT have split bumpers? Was it just 70?

Also, what years had the foam covered dash without the center console?

Just 70 on the bumpers for all MGBs and I forge what years had that dash but I know that its not an easy thing to swap them since they dont bolt right up. Talk to Tony he's done it before.

My '68 has the padded dash and no center console. I believe '69s were the same in this regard.

68-71 had the 'Abingdon pillow' Dash. Is it hard to change to the later dash?? I know not too ask about the metal dash but, I would like to replace the useless pillow dash on our GT for something usefull with vents and a glovebox.

Ahh, dashboards. Something I'm ALL too familiar with.

68-71 had the abingdon pillow, as mentioned above.

71 may or may not have had a console. I'm not sure. Consoles can be added to any MG pretty easily.

Now, as for dash interoperability....

Early dashes differ in several significant ways. I believe depth of the rail between the dash and windshield is most significant, but I'll defer to Tony's in-depth treatise on it. In short, it's not for the faint of heart.

I don't know about early dashes, but ALL post-67 dashes mount the same way. That doesn't mean they're easy swaps.

The late dash is a particular bear. The wiring harness is entirely different, as are alot of the guage sizes. NOT worth it.

so that leaves the 68-76 dashes.
These are actually FAIRLY straightforward, unless you're dumb (like me) and decide you want a flat-dash conversion, too.
Watch out for the detail differences... the turn signal indicators are different. So are the heater controls. Little stuff like that can kill you.

When you bring the 72-76 dash over to the pillow, you're on your own figuring out how to hook up the vents, cause there's no provision for them. Again, Tony's early dash conversion guide may be able to help.

Really, there's just a ton of little things. Most pillow dashes have no lights behind the switches and controls.. stuff like that.

In short, you can mount it up no problem. Figuring it all out is tougher.
