Our first event of the Season is our always well attended Tech Session at Historic Motor Sports in Candia. Next up is the British By The Sea Show in Waterford CT at the lovely Harkness Estate hosted by The Connecticut MG Club. They always send a good number of their cars to our show so we try to do the same.

On Friday a group of us (6 cars) met in Milford NH for breakfast and made the sweltering drive along route 169 to the Hampton Inn in Groton CT. We got there early and most of the rooms were not ready yet so we all piled into one room for cocktails and munchies. Out to dinner at a nearby restaurant later that evening.

On Saturday the girls with one of the guys went to Mystic Seaport and the rest of the guys to visit the Nautilus Sub. When we got back to the hotel, a hose and vacuum cleaner were at the ready for us to clean up our cars. This hotel did a superb job.

Sunday, the day of the show was sunny, breezy and warm. There were 329 cars on the field. Several of our members won prizes. The CT Club puts on a fine show with very good food. The venue is beautiful, right on the shore.

We had one breakdown in the group on the way home, one terrible scare and one flooded car.

72 members in attendance, a record I believe. We met at The Mile Away in Milford which was decorated beautifully. Food was very good and reasonable with great service. Some of the gals went shopping for some nice door prizes. There was much conversation, laughter and ladies with strange things on their heads!

On this sunny and cool November Sunday, we met at the Gilmanton Winery for Brunch. 50 plus members in attendance with a good mix of British cars not stowed away for the Winter. Excellent Brunch, anyone in the area should give it a try.

After that, Nick Grewal graciously invited us to view his private collection. There were both unusual road cars and race cars. Now, I will admit I am not a fan of race cars and have no knowledge of them. However, I knew I was seeing some very special cars. I took notes and came home to do some research and was amazed at what I had seen. I would have expected many of these to be in a museum and here we were, inches away. How amazing that a person could own such cars and how fortunate we were to be able to see them. I will post pictures and information. Forgive me if I am not accurate with the information some of my notes did not match the research.

The first picture is of my favorite, a Frazer Nash Le Mans Replica that won the 1952 12 Hour Race of Sebring

#2 Swallow Doretti (1954-1955)The location of 178 are known today

#3 Lotus Climax 18 Sterling Moss drove this car to win at the Monaco Grand Prix

#4 1964 Lotus 32 (one of 4) Jim Clark drove this car to win the 1964 Formula 2 Championship
