'67 MG 1100 swap ideas

Has anyone ever done an engine swap for a MG 1100 or seen/heard of one that has been done? Any ideas of what engine would work best?

-Thanks, Ryan

If you want to swap in a non-BMC engine, the only "easy" way is to go for the VTEC route using a kit. Beyond that, you're going to have to design and engineer your own kit.

Fun, interesting, and rewarding if that's your cup of tea and you have the skills. A surefire way to end up with a stalled project in worse shape than you started if you don't have the aforementioned skills!

Let us know what you come up with!

It is possible to put in the Honda without the kit but it would be a lot of work!!
It has been too long (about 20 years) since I had my last 1100 so I don't remember where the VIN's are- someone will come along soon who knows.

Thanks for the info Bill. I'm not sure how much work it will take to get the engine running again or if it would be easier/better to just swap engines. I also don't know if the engine is frozen or not. I like the idea of installing a Honda engine for more power and likely more reliability with it being newer. But I don't want to spend that much money to purchase a new subframe. Is it possible to manipulate the current subframe to fit a vtec engine?

Also, do you know the location(s) for the vin? I see a metal plate on the frame above the grill on the passenger side with a few numbers on it, but it is mostly unreadable. Is there another for a vin?

Austin America 1275 is the best swap (both eng8ine and trans). Mini Mania has some stuff to swap a Honda engine (I think) into it too.
