Good Morning My brother has a 1972 MG midget, the problem he is having is the headlight are burning very dim, hardly no light at all, I took the grounding cable loose under the car, cleaned and sanded it very well, still dim light, Anything we are over looking that we can do ? It is entirely possible that the ground is good enough that the low-power marker lights still work normally, but not good enough for the more power consuming headlights.

Next, after that has been confirmed, I would have you check the condition of the bullet connectors behind the grille where the harness from the light switch connects to the harness for the headlights. There should be a bundle of about 5 or 6 of them all in a bunch. Disconnect each one and clean and reassemble them (mind that you don't mix them up, they are all color coded to help with matching them when you are done). The ones you especially want to check are the blue/white (high beam, or "main beam") ones and the blue/red ones ("dip beam").

These might also be located between two panels, or in the RH wheel well. Follow the harness and you'll find them. They are exposed to a lot of crud, so need some TLC from time to time.
