We get it occasionally although, as the picture shows, it usually isn't deep....and it often more ice than snow :(

DANG, Joe! Do they get snow like that in Cordova, Tennessee? That looks like my hometown of Alexandria, Virginia. At least you had the foresight to put a tarp over the windshield to keep it clear for the next morning's commute. X(

Your car looks fabulous! I'm guessing by its stance, that you've made a few modifications?

By all means, look me up the next time you're over in the UK - it would be good to meet you. Aldridge is about a 10 min. drive from Walsall town centre.

This was taken in British Columbia when my restoration was fresh, and is one of my favorites.

Jonathan, looking forward to updates on 9253 WD.
I have a sister just south of you in Nothamptonshire, and cousins in the Walsall area, so on my next visit to the mother country I should look you up for a closer look :).

Thanks so much for your reply. Great to hear that you originally hail from 'Old Blighty' and that you're a Scouser to boot! As you so rightly point out, the early 'sixties were a golden age for motorsport - I only wish I'd been alive to witness it all!

Again, you're correct in saying that the photo of 9253 WD, with the Galaxie "up its chuff", was taken in 1963/64 - probably at a club event. Its owner/driver at the time was John Harris; by 1965 he had repainted the car dark blue.

9253 WD - the former Pedro Rodriguez, Healey team car built for Sebring in 1962 - has recently emerged from a 45 year lay-up.

As for restoring it to its former glory - watch this space! ;)

sorry, I don't have the details on the shot. It was actually posted here on MGE some time back, and I loved it so much I clipped and saved it.
I grew up in England and spent my early teenage years keenly following the BTCC at various circuits, primarily in the south. Although originally from Merseyside, I never attended Aintree, and I think this picture was shot there, probably in 1963 or 1964.
Jack Sears, Gwainne Baillie, Jack Brabham amongst others campaigned Galaxies at various times back then. Though clearly not a Championship race, this could be one of those drivers. The thing that bothers me most tho', is that those guys raced XL500 Fastback's, the car in this picture is not a fastback, but a sedan.
It WAS the golden age of motorsport in my opinion. Amazing competition and sportsmanship, huge grids, and a wide variety of cars.

I love that the Sprite has survived, I assume from your avatar you have more than a passing interest in it, and other cars of the period.
It would be fantastic to see 9253WD restored to its former glory.
