Hey guys I have a 79 Midget, when I bought it about a 3 weeks ago it had no catalytic converter on it, just a pipe back to a quad pacesetter exhaust system. I took it to emissions and needless to say I failed miserably. So this weekend I put the original cat converter back on, it fit perfectly no issues. However NOW my car sometimes sounds like its doing a very very minor backfire when I let off of the exhaust and when I put my foot down hard on the gas from idle, it just bogs and then makes a sound like a hammer hitting my engine (only did this 1 time, as I know this cannot be good). I checked the entire exhaust system and see no leaks anywhere... my only thought is that the cat (since it's not new and I have no idea how long ago they took it off) is clogged or dirty and not letting much exhaust through... But again I have no idea if that would cause these issues.
