1959 MGA Gauges

After owning car since 1977 I just realized I have 3 Jaeger gauges and the oil pressure/ temp gauge is a Smiths.
Any thoughts?

Car is now resting in NC after attending MG 2012 for the B's but we had 2 other A coupes in the car show.

The needles will come off using spoons, the gauge face on the Jaeger seems to be an integral part of the lighting collar/lens support. Nothing too difficult there, a swap over ought to be straight forward in case you find that you can no longer live with the difference.

Not sure of all the details, but at some point Jaeger was swallowed up by Smiths (?) - merged? - and the Jaeger name was dropped.

You can get the exact same item as a repro, but it will say "Smiths" so I don't even think you should lose concours points for this.

Maybe someone with a busted Jaeger unit can sell you theirs and you can take the face off of it to "correct" yours.

I think the switch was post-MGA production, so the original gauges for all our cars would or should have said "Jaeger".

If I am wrong here, I hope someone more knowledgeable will correct me.

The Jaegers are likely original to the car, or at least the period. The Smiths is a replacement, probably from MOSS, VB or other aftermarket supplier. I also went that route, but then bought a used Jaeger from a fellow Forum-ite.
