Does this look right? Wiring behind dash and speedo cable

First of all, to you that think sills and floors are hard, forget it, that suff is easy compared to trim. Thanks to those who responded to my dash plea for help, I have that bit dealt with...moving on...

Take a look at this picture and let me know if it is right. The car is a 1968, and I did not take it apart or I would have pictures.

On all othr cars I have seen, the speedo cable comes out BESIDES the steerign column support. There is no such hole in this car.

I have the harness clipped where it is because the P clip was on the original harness in this aproximate location. The hole in the P clip fits the 5/15" bolt and I don't see any other places to fasten the clip.

Once I get this little bit sorted, I will locate the dash in place in front of the hole, wire it all up and then bolt the dash in place.

Oh, and I would like to make reservations in a special piece of hell for the person who put the grommet for the speedo cable inside the steering column support. That was fun.

Maybe this will help. this is on a 68GT and is the only place where any speedo cable has come thru on this or the 69 GT parts car I had. Lloyd may know better, I just know what I inherited with these two cars. The cable passes in front of the heater face and over to the speedo, and I am fairly sure that this was why they used a right angle drive - to avoid a sharp bend of the cable at the rear of the speedo.

	Lloyd:

No angle drive in the pile of bits. If it is the same as the one on the transmission, I should have a spare or ten kicking around. Never thought to look for a hole in the tunnel.

I wonder if that might be part of the reson that the speedo was jumping around before the owner took it apart?

Still need to find where the choke cable routes out of the cockpit. I have to wonder if the hole at the bottom of the column support is where the choke cable is going to want to exit?

If I haave to mess with the grommet at the bottomof that support one more time, I am going to turn to strong drink!

OH wait, already did that. Might have to take up cussing.

I think you are correct about the choke cable exiting the cockpit through the hole at the bottom of the steering column. I found this picture of mine before I pulled the engine. It's not very clear but when I zoom in you can see the cable going through this hole. I'm still unclear about the spedo cable.

Peter,

Please post some pictures when you get this sorted out. I went out to look at my car and now you've got me wondering about where all of the cables go. I'm going to go through my disassembly pictures and see if there are any clues. If I find anything I post them. As you know mine is an early 69 that seems to be very close to yours. I am fairly certian that I don't have a right angle drive on my speedo.
Do you have the angle drive for the rear of the speedo? If so, route the cable up thru the tunnel on pass side (you'll see a hole there). If not, the get long cable and route it thru the hole below the hood hinge on the drivers side.

Doesn't the 68 have an L adaptor on the speedo so that the cable comes in from the right side of the column? The cable should come through under the hood hinge as I recall it.
I don't think I have one on my speedo, just the one at the transmission. However, Moss catalog suggests that 68-71 cars should have it. Now I'm curious. Peter, does your speedo have an angle drive on the back?
