My wife and I had our first date in a 1974 MGB in 1974. It was purchased new from Hix Green Buick in Atlanta for $4700. I sold it 3 years later - MISTAKE! She purchased our current 76B in April of 2005, and surprised me when I came home. I had been wanting one for several years, but with a daughter in college I had no idea we'd ever have another MG. I already knew I had a great wife, but now she's in an altogether different category! Our car has an SU HIF44 carb on a late model manifold. The catalytic convertor and other pollution control equipment have been removed. We have a rebuilt distributor from Advanced Distributor (Jeff Schlemmer) with Petronix electronic ignition.

We went on a drive to north Georgia Monday, September 28th. Drove the expressway to Gainesville, then to Helen, Anna Ruby Falls, Dahlonega (by way of US 75, Hwy 180, and Hwy 29, then to Ellijay, through Carterville, and then home. 340 miles, 12 hours. Terrific! Hwy 180 was a mistake that turned out great - really twisting, turning ride!
