Frame Prep

Rolling dolly is ideal for moving out of the way

During the cold months, it was easiest and economical to pick away at the frame preparation. After buying the A, my shop heating got delayed until next year (maybe). Still happy with my choice! Got the body up on a proper rolling dolly and the frame stripped of all components. Scraped and blasted the frame and now waiting for warmer weather to do a POR-15 coating.

New Project Starts

Bottle jacks start it off

As the MGB gets tucked away for the winter, a new project takes hold. Not knowing fully what awaits discovery under the body, a lift is studied and planned with help from the A forum. Using tools at hand, the body is lifted off the frame. Initially snagged by the pedal bracket, the body is finally freed and the frame is rolled from underneath.

In a quest to obtain more MGB parts, I answered an attractive ad for a car and loose parts. When the garage door was opened, my eyes fell on a MGA Coupe covered in boxes and misc. parts. I figured the seller was simply moving the B parts in order to make room for the A project. But I had to ask...

End Of Season Review

Sittin pretty

Got to the 1000 mile mark on my rebuild/rolling restore. Still running sweet, but about time to shut her down for the year. It has been an unbelievable adventure and thanks to this group, I accomplished a bunch since last spring. Partial engine rebuild: rings, bearings, complete valve job w/hardened seats. Piston replaced after valve stem broke off (not same head as above!) Water pump, Clutch, throw out bearing Floor pans replaced New tires, brake hoses New muffler and tail pipe an...
