Gearbox Cleaning

Posted on: Sunday May 20, 2012

Before

Decided to clean all the gunk out of my gearbox today. x years of grease, oil leaks and disintegrated carbon bearing took a long time to shift. A combination of scraping, degreaser, powerwasher and scotchbrite pad helped it a bit./ Now i dont dread taking it apart to replace the seals and gaskets quite so much as i wont get completely covered in grease when i do.

Still - not too bad for a roller and on a part that is going to be under the car, its not bad looking.!

I ended up buying a new petrol tank, but due to time constraints, i only got the top of it painted until now. I practiced on that with POR15 and put different types of top coat on. I wasnt too worried about it since it is never seen (touches the boot floor). TANK UNDERSIDE: Today, after using the 2 step wash and prepare for paint process, i tackled the main underside of the tank - the slightly more visible part. ROLLER AND BRUSH: For this, i used a mini roller with 2 coats of POR15 ...
