Decided to clean all the gunk out of my gearbox today. x years of grease, oil leaks and disintegrated carbon bearing took a long time to shift. A combination of scraping, degreaser, powerwasher and scotchbrite pad helped it a bit./ Now i dont dread taking it apart to replace the seals and gaskets quite so much as i wont get completely covered in grease when i do.

Well its been a long time since ive updated things on here, and ive done a few bits n pieces in the ineterim! Ive basically taken the car apart - including engine and gearbox. The engine is at a machine shop at the moment - ive measured things up but im waiting to see what they think it needs to see if im in any way right or wrong. Im cutting away the lh sill rot at the moment - doesnt look so bad so i think i will get away with patching it (and maybe a new outer sill front just to make...

I put chassis black top coat on the tank last night and left it to dry. I think it needs a few days to fully cure, but the pic shows it this morning. I might leave it as it is, but its ever-so-slightly orange-peely, so depending on what i find in the form of advice online or on the forum, I might wet sand it (dont know if the chassis coat black lends itself too well to this ). Still - not too bad for a roller and on a part that is going to be under the car, its not bad looking.!

I ended up buying a new petrol tank, but due to time constraints, i only got the top of it painted until now. I practiced on that with POR15 and put different types of top coat on. I wasnt too worried about it since it is never seen (touches the boot floor). TANK UNDERSIDE: Today, after using the 2 step wash and prepare for paint process, i tackled the main underside of the tank - the slightly more visible part. ROLLER AND BRUSH: For this, i used a mini roller with 2 coats of POR15 ...
