"Smoke" Solved

Posted on: Wednesday September 14, 2011

Well after much searching and debating, i have found the culprit of my smoke issue. compression test showed an issue with cylinder #3. i tried adding an oil additive. two days later, i did a sea foam treatment. a day later i did another compression test. the numbers got a little better, still an issue with #3. but more importantly, the smoke stopped. so, i did a version of a leak down test where i hooked up the air compressor to the cylinder, while at TDC. air was coming through the exh...

Smoke!

Posted on: Monday August 22, 2011

this past week the engine has gone on a huge decline. not sure what's wrong but the car is burning A LOT of oil. it's almost embarrassing to drive it on the highway because of the amount of smoke it's putting out. kind of like a james bond 007 smoke screen. originally thought it was a clog somewhere in the emission controls. but, so far no luck in finding it - though i have barely even gotten started. someone else thought it was something else, dealing with just above the head. this perso...

shock

i was looking through past entries and realized i hadn't posted some pics of work done - ie. completed shocks and springs. here they are i also hadn't know that anyone had been reading my post and even commented...dealing with the shocks, it was suggested to paint then fill - because of oil getting on metal. i did the opposite. but i did do a pretty good cleaning after filling. so, paint still took to metal.
