I ran an MGA in my youth and I always remember it as one of the finest cars I have ever owned. If I had not had a life long love affair with XK Jaguars, I may well have become an MGA nut. I have however decided to try and remedy the situation by acquiring an ‘A’ in my dotage. In truth, my only criticism of the MGA is relative performance. Another car I remember fondly is a Bertone Alfa GTV and I have rather set my heart on building a hybrid Alfa ‘A’ - a 2 litre Alfa engined MGA. The Alfa twin cam is a fifties design and the two components should be a terrific match. Unfortunately, I’m not sure if, from an engineering standpoint, the project is a practical proposition. Perhaps someone on the forum will tell me.
