Its Snowing

I drove the MGB to the monthly MG club meeting tonight and didn't check the forecast. It was snowing on my way to the meeting and I haven't had the B in the snow in years, decades really. Anyway it snowed lightly during the meeting and was clear all the way home. Unfortunately I don't want to use the heat since the heater valve leaks so it made for a frosty ride home. At least the windshield wipers and washers work and melted the ice on the windshield!

Took the MGB to get groceries tonight and filled up the tank for probably the last time this season. As long as there is no salt on the roads we'll keep her on the road.

Reverse Light Bulb Interchange

Reverse light update- Along with the common 1157 front turn signal bulbs I was able to find a cheap replacement for the reverse light bulb locally. Although the Wagner 211-2 bulbs NAPA had on hand were a near exact fit they did not have pointed ends, instead had a hoop of wire on each end that I was able to bend into a "V" that fit into the bulb holder snugly and so far is working fine.

Blown Bulbs

I drove the B to work today and thanks to Daylight saving time it was dark when I went home. As I turned on the headlights I was facing my building and saw the front right marker/ turn signal light and then blow. The turn signal works so I only blew half the element. I'll get a new bulb tomorrow. I've also got a back up bulb blown and that's one of the "festoon" bulbs I can't seem to find locally, so I'll likely order that online with my next parts order. Other than that it was a beautiful warm sunny day so I put the top down and enjoyed global warming!

No Starter

I drove the B to church today, another beautiful day here. After church the starter clicked but thats all. So I push started her with the help of a couple of friends and was on my way. Once home I found the green/white wire (I'm guessing the colors as its mostly grease covered) came off the selonoid and after I reattached it it was all back to normal. This happens every few years so I know what to look for. I probably loosened the wire doing the oil change yesterday!

Oil Change

I changed the Oil in the MGB today. Beautiful sunny Indian Summer day with temps in the 50's. I used an STP blue filter (PF 53?)and three and one half quarts of Quaker State 10w30 oil. I only change the oil once a year in the B because I rarely put more than 2000 miles on it in a year and I use about four quarts of oil during the driving season anyway!
