I remeoved the tach to check wiring connections. Green is hot, black/white wire is coil. The connections here were good.

The black/white wire at the coil The continuity was interrupted somewhere between the coil and the tach.

The connector under the dash that connects the instruments to the rest of the car, including the black/white wire to the coil. That wire was loose in the connector.

The tach's glass cover, removed for cleaning. A simple twist to relieve the tabs from their respective slots on the tach, and it's set free.

Both the tach and speedo with cleaned glass covers. I also polished the chrome retainer ring. Combo and fuel level gauges will require loosening to get the glass off, meaning removal of the steering column to gain access.
