First of all, thanks for joining with us in the 15th annual Summer Tour. The first year, 2002, took us to Union, Oregon, and 14 cars participated! A lot of fun and a lot of miles over 14 years. The greatest part of this has been the friends we have made. Absolutely priceless!

This year’s trip to Twin Falls, Idaho will start from the Idaho Center parking lot in Nampa, Idaho. Please plan to arrive by 7:30 AM, driver’s meeting at 7:45, and we will depart following the driver’s meeting. Each car will receive a route booklet, which will highlight points of interest as well as interesting bits of history along the way. There will be no interstate driving on the route. If you are facing a freeway on-ramp, it’s not the way we intended you to go. We have pointed out a few rest stops (potty stops!?!) for your convenience along the way.

At approximately mile 144, you will be approaching Hagerman. Watch for a sign on the right directing you to Lower Salmon Falls Hydroelectric Project. If you signed up for lunch, it will be there waiting for you! Lunch will consist of fresh wraps of different types with local meats and cheeses, pickles, chip variety, veggies with dip, homemade dessert, water and lemonade; for $12.00 per person.

After lunch, you will have about a one-hour drive to the hotels. You will have time to settle in, wash your car, meet up with old friends, hopefully make some new ones! The welcome reception, at Canyon Crest Dining & Event Center is about eight tenths of a mile away and will kick off at 6:00 PM. Two very special guest speakers are on the agenda for the evening, so don't be late!

For those that care to walk to dinner, a path along Perrine Coulee goes right to Canyon Crest, and will offer some incredible views along the canyon rim.

Throughout the day Friday, there are choices! Dry land?? Water?? Whitewater rafting or a scenic motor boat tour?? If you would like to stay away from the water, we have put together a list of historical sites and scenic attractions that should keep you amused for a few hours, especially with lunch mixed in! How about a one-hour scenic motor boat tour of the Snake River Canyon from Centennial Waterfront Park to Pillar Falls? Cost is $15 per person,14 guests per trip. First trip will leave Centennial Park at noon. Possibly a float on the Snake? Hagerman Whitewater Rafting Adventure! Launching at 1:00 pm at Lower Salmon Dam, this trip lasts about 4 hours, and includes all of the equipment needed, a licensed guide on every boat, and transportation after the trip back to the launch point. Cost per person is $46.00. “This price includes all taxes and user fees. Not included is the guide gratuity which are optional & appreciated...most all of our guides are college students..., but we do like to say if you liked the ride tip the guide…”

Friday evening’s dinner offering will bring us all together again at Lower Salmon Falls Park. I have wanted to work in a Dutch Oven Dinner on a Summer Tour for years! Here it is. Shelley's Dutch Oven BBQ , with steak and chicken, dutch oven red potatoes, baked beans, and green salad, dutch oven fruit cobblers, cold drinks. Cost is $18 per person, includes all tax and serving staff gratuities. I think this will be a fantastic end to a great day on the Snake River!

Saturday morning, and yes we have a car show! It will be located in the City Park, shaded and on the grass. We will start parking cars at 8:00 AM, and we ask that you not leave the park until 1:00 PM.

Saturday evening we have dinner back at the Canyon Crest. We will be situated on the patio, enjoying the views of the Snake River Canyon. Your choices for dinner will be:
Roasted Tri-tip with natural Jus, Chicken Breast with Shiitake Mushrooms, and Seared Trout Filletswith citrus. If you have special dietary needs, let us know, we’ll work with that!

I hope this has provided a good overview of Summer Tour and explains the activities we offer to make this a memorable weekend.
