A Minor In The Loop
I decided to take "The B" out on I-465 for a little spin,
She was just cleaned and neat as a pin;
Put the top up 'cause it was raining and quite dark outside;
Headlights on; wipers on; guess we're all set for a ride.
It was about 8:45 when I was headin’ for the "Loop",
The splashing rain made visibility thick as soup.
When the rain let up a little, I could see much better,
Then, way up ahead, I see a Morris. I'll go get her.
She was green with tan top and was tooling along at a good clip,
I sped up to get a better look before she could give me the slip.
She had a British license plate; white letters on black,
What's she doin' in the middle of this American car pack?
I knew she wasn't an Oxford 'cause she was small;
Yeah, definitely a small Minor convertible after all.
I knew she only had a one liter engine at best,
But she was able to keep up with all the rest.
In Indianapolis and around these parts I can tell you,
We might see a Morris, at least one, maybe two.
I haven't seen a Morris Minor in a very long time, believe it or not,
They are rare around these parts, one hardly gives them a thought.
Lightning doesn't strike in the same place, at least that's what they say.
You know, as things go, I might see another Morris Minor again today,
She is a cousin of "The B" is all I wanted to say,
But that little Minor sure looked cute as she sped away!

"Odd Sighting" Posted: November 05, 2010 (From The MG Experience)
Tonight at around 8:45, I was traveling on the I-465 loop around Indianapolis. I was surprised to see a Morris Minor convertible, green with a tan top, tooling along, but I was really surprised to see that the plate on the rear of the car was a proper British number plate (black with white letters) and there was no sign of a US license plate. Odd. Believe it or not, I actually had that thought. Tonight was dark with light rain when I spotted the MM. Really looked out of place.
