Got my 77B out of storage and first time in 16 years won't run. I say that, however it runs if I keep the starter running. Fuel pump good, spark good, Weber dd may be problem all though I removed the brass screws ( needles) and cleaned out the little holes on the sides and used carb cleaner.
What next? Any ideas?

Check for voltage at the third fuse and at the distributer with the key on. Do not leave it on for long or you may damage the dizzy. The cold start feature supplies momentary voltage to the coil via the starter solenoid. The run voltage goes to the coil via the third lug (unfused) on the fuse box via a resistor wire to the coil. The resistor wire could be bad or the connector(s) could be dirty or loose.

How long was it in storage and how full was the fuel tank? A tank should always be completely filled when put into short term storage. Water (condensation) will infiltrate, specifically when it's ethanol... Is it ethanol fuel? Max storage time for ethanol laced fuel is about 30 days before it starts going "sour"... If you suspect water, add a pint of "white gas". This will allow the fuel to absorb the water and burn it out.

Just some points to ponder...

Paul

16 years you say? I'm not surprised that it won't start. Have a look here: http://www.mgexp.com/article/awakening-sleeping-mg.html

Probably bad gas at least. I'd clean out the carburetors fully (may even need a rebuild if 16 years has gone by, even if you did start it every year). If it will run continuously on starter fluid (a few moments wont hurt it) then the issue is in the fuel system.
